Orion faces many challenges in attracting and managing new talent. Externally, Orion must compete with multinational corporations (MNCs) for top management talent. Since Orion is an Asian company, candidates often have initial doubts for cultural fit and company maturity. Research shows that top talent is often “off the market” within 1-3 months. This book is about the two approaches we took to solve this crisis: one is to create a Best-In-Class (BIC) recruiting machine so the company can acquire top talent from outside, and two is to develop a Best-In-Class talent development machine so the company can effectively groom capable people internally. Ultimately these two approaches must be taken concurrently to create a truly BIC talent organization.
